Message from our Chairman

Almost there but not yet!

The Pro-tem Committee Members and Street Representatives met up Thursday night (Aug 27, 2009) to tabulate the responses and monies collected in the past week and we are happy to say that results have been very good, with several residents even opting to pay up to 6 months in advance. This reinforces the committee’s confidence that our residents are truly committed to see our Gated and Guarded initiatives up and running as soon as possible.

However, feedback from our Street Reps was that they were unable to get in touch with a minor percentage of neighbors on each of their respective streets mainly because of daily evening wet weather deterrence and school holiday vacationers. There are also those who opt to pay at the end of the month; which inevitably lead to the delay of our round-the-clock security patrol services, initially scheduled to commence September 1, 2009

In light of these circumstances, the pro-tem committee has decided to extend the approval/ fund collection campaign for another week, allowing us to acquire the remaining approval/ payment from our absent residents;
Note as earlier committed: We will commence our Guarded services upon receiving the approval and funds for the majority of neighbors, otherwise all payments collected will be refunded back to the payees ( see earlier posting )

We would like to extend our thanks to all our residents who have already made their payments and hope that the remaining few that has not would immediately follow likewise so that we can have the security up and running within a fortnight. We also ask committed residents to help contact your absent neighbors to the urgency of their approval and payment.

Thanks again for your resounding support! Please feel free to contact your 3 Greens pro-tem Committee Members / Street Representatives should you have any queries.

Pro-tem Committee Chairman

Dear Mr Chairman,

Glad to hear that the collection is going on. Thanks to the street reps who worked very hard.
There may be cases where residence are at home and ready to pay up but the street reps may not be going round at that time. In these cases, I think it may help if their addresses are published at this blog so that their neighbours may help to remind them. This may help to speed up collection and the implementation of security in our area.

I wish to complain about the fact that your committee reps have been to my house for the 3rd time to force me to pay up and join - even for at least 3 months!.
From the beginning, I had spoken to Sharon politely that I am waiting to move house to Setia Echo Park where we have been paying a fee of Rm350 monthly, for the past year, being a proper gated community with 4 free car stickers. We are waiting for our home reno to be completed and have no idea whether we are selling or renting this USJ property, whereupon it will be up to the decision of the new tenants. Why should we be paying security for two places, especially when we are leaving this one? Besides, we have lived here for 15 years, with no security, having had our car stolen, broken into, and now suddenly I am expected to worry about our safety in our final 3 months here?
Now, can you understand why I don't want to join? Please learn to take "No" for an answer.
We also do not expect our cars to be harassed in any way when we leave or return, without any stickers!

Hi,

We are not forcing anyone to pay nor are we haressing anyone. This is a community project to safeguard and make our area
a pleasant place to live. So for this project to sustain and be able to take off everyone has to do their part to contribute

and be involved. It is not right to force the community to pay if they do not want a G&G but neither is it morally right to take advantage of others who wants a peaceful enviroment. So if the majority wants the G&G then everyone has to play their part be it owened or rented or in this case moving out. As you all know there are neighbours who do not stay here or are moving out next month are also paying.

regards

I am a resident in USJ 3/1 and have watched the committee reps going from house to house asking people to pay. It is the very residents who have given more than 85% yes during the initial stage.
On the comment by Mei Oh I think the reps are not forcing anyone but only being persistent. I was approached 3 times and on the 3rd visit I realised it is for the sake of the whole community and I think the reps deserve a yes.
Mei Oh is moving out to a gated housing concept and is paying more than 5 times per month what we are paying and she complains about paying for 3 months. To us USJ 3/1 is our home and we are willing to do our part to make this area safe.
To the committee you have your standing instruction as to how to treat non-participating residents and all should be treated as per your guidelines and I do not consider "harassment".
Bravo to the committee.

I agree with Anniyan. I for one is highly appreciative of the street reps efforts toward making our neighbourhood a safer place.

Mei Oh, if you are staying here till the end of the year, doesn't it make more sense for you to contribute to the security here than that of Echo Park << comment moderated >>

I have to say: Great job done by the street reps and the committee. I definitely appreciate and had my full support over this project. Wihtout no question or any doubt, I paid on that spot when my street reps asked for the money.

Great job done, guys.

But no doubt, there will be bunch of people out there, just waiting to enjoy the benefit of the gated community, without paying a single cent.

Btw, we are suppose to start this in Sept? How's it going? Any difficulties that I havent seen anything going on?

I'm at USJ3/1G.

Thank you for your kind words, Spinner.

The guarded project is commencing Sept 16 with the majority of residents paying the security subscription.
