LRT Route into Subang Jaya

Some 200 -300 Subang Jaya residents welcomed the proposal for the LRT extension to their township but unanimously agreed that it should not be built through residential areas during the recent meeting on the proposed LRT service last Saturday ( July 25 ) at the 3K complex multipurpose hall.

A resident, who introduced himself as Chong, said: “While we welcome the LRT, make sure it won’t fly over my house,” as the residents applauded upon hearing his opinion.

The proposed 17km route will continue from the Kelana Jaya line and run through the Subang Jaya KTM station, Kesas Highway, Jalan Jengka, Persiaran Kewajipan, Summit USJ, Taipan USJ, up to Putra Heights.

Prasarana Grp MD, Datuk Idrose informed that there would be park-and-ride facilities at three of the stations, including at the Subang Jaya KTM station, with multi-level catering up to 1,000 to 1,500 cars. He goes on to say that said the LRT will serve to take cars off the road and it will cater to 1.4 million people, hence there will be less congestion in the Jalan Kewajipan and Jalan Jengka.

Committee Members Urgently Required!

The Pro-Tem Commitee have gone through the RA's constitution for submission to ROS which is critical at this stage.

What we are urgently lacking is in terms of number of committee members. We estimate the total no. of members (resident) will be about 300 houses.

In total, our committee consist of only 14 members but we need at least 25 to 30 members so that all streets will be well represented. Currently we do not even have reps from USJ 3/1B & C and this has to be covered by our office bearers.

We have found that to lighten the burden, we need more street reps, at least 2 from each street. Currently there are only single representative from USJ3/1, A, D, E, 3/2, and they have to double up for the unrepresented streets as well as other office position.

We are appealing to you, our neighbours to come forth to assist as committee member, failing which we are painfully delayed...

Our Neighbourhood's security is our joint responsibility

Beware of Proton BFF 6189

It has been reported off another USJ Community website, that a proton car bearing the license plate BFF 6189 was circling round their area several times at 2 am.

Their subsequent check with JPJ reveal that BFF 6189 belonged to a stolen motorcycle registered in Terengganu and had been blacklisted by Petaling Jaya police station since year 2001.

This goes to show that the car as seen by the resident was not bearing a genuine car registration no. If ever anyone of us should see the car again in our area, please contact the police immediately.

Be advised to also be on the look out for other suspicious car activity in our area and try if possible to note the license plate, colour and make of the vehicle.

If deemed necessary, contact the USJ 8 Police Station ( 03 56364582 ) to report your suspicion;

who knows.... you may be preventing yet another robbery in our area.

Alert Mat Rempit attack 3/1B

This message was derived from our initial USJ3-1 Yahoo Group

I was informed by Mr Ng of 3/1E at the padang yesterday that the corner house at 3/1B was almost broken into by 6 mat rempits on 3 bikes last Friday 24th July 2009. It happened under broad daylight at 0830hrs! 3/1B is the row facing the Padang.

I varified the facts with Mr and Mrs Tan this morning. She withnessed the episode. The security is really really very bad now. And the people at Putra Jaya still live in cloud 9. It took the PM to make an on-line survey!!!!

Does he mean that all the tax monies we paid to maintain peace and security and provide feed back to him is not reaching him? or simply he does not believe those figures anymore???

Most insulting things is the news today that the KPI for police to reduce crime rate by 20% by 2010. What does it mean to you? To me it meant, sorry folks, if you fall within the 80% group from now until 2010, that's not our fault, please blame the KPI.

I still get my promotion, I still get my salary, I still keep my job. Too bad if your friend/neighbour/relative is one of the 80% from today until 2010, we cannot help.

The Putra Jaya boys can tolerate that 80% crime because they are not affected. You and I and our love ones are the one affected. So we have to help ourselves. Gated and guarded community is one of the solutions and let's wish the good souls in the committee help us in making this a reality. Thanks again to the committee members.

Star Metro Article on our G&G Awareness Campaign

More USJ folk go for safety scheme ( Friday July 17, 2009 )

More than 85% of USJ 3/1 residents; 87%, in fact - want their neighbourhood to be gated and guarded.

In a recent briefing attended by Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) officers and USJ8 police station officer-in-charge chief inspector Loi Yew Lik, the residents gave their consent to the pro tem residents association to set up the scheme.

At the beginning of the meeting, the residents were reminded that they still needed another 44 households to sign up in order to achieve the 85% agreement to implement the plan. As the meeting progressed, more were convinced that the gated and guarded concept is needed for their safety and security.

Association chairman Andy Lam shared a few crime incidents that had happened in the neighbourhood.

“On April 27 at 2.50pm, a woman and her son were held up by some robbers, who threatened to kill the family if any police report was made,” he said

Lam said there were 387 houses in USJ 3/1 and part of Jalan USJ 3/2 (which is located in the same neighbourhood).

There are three entry points into the area and the association’s initial plan was to employ five guards — three to be stationed at the entrances and two to patrol the roads.

There is also a pedestrian bridge linking USJ 3/1 and SS19. We will perhaps request the bridge owner to let us close the bridge from midnight to 6am,” Lam said.

Loi said the scheme would be effective in curbing crime such as break-ins, snatch thefts and robberies

“Once you put up the barriers, the crime rate will drop dramatically. But this interim measure does not guarantee zero crime,” he said.

He added that he now had 65 men in blue serving USJ and the figure would increase to 140 in the future

“If you set up the gated and guarded community, we will focus on areas without such schemes. I hope the residents will be more vigilant and call us if they spot any suspicious characters,” Loi said.

Yeoh, on the other hand, reminded the residents that they needed to get their residents association registered with the Registrar of Society before applying for the scheme.
